Nanhi kali sone chali hava dhire aana
Nind bhare pankh liye jhoola jhoola jaana
Chaand kiran si gudiya naajon ki hai pali
Aaj agar chaandaniya aana meri gali
Gun gun gun git koi haule haule gaana
Resham ki dor agar pairon ko ulajhaaye
Ghungharu ka daana koi shor macha jae
Daane mere jaage to phir nindiya tu bahalaana
Nind bhare pankh liye jhoola jhoola jaana
Nanhi kali sone chali hava dhire aana
Nind bhare pankh liye jhoola jhoola jaana
Translation:
My little bud (baby girl) is going to sleep, so please come slowly, breeze.
Come on the wings of sleep and swing her gently.
My little doll is like the soft rays of the moon. She is brought up with great care and is indulged.
Today when you come to my alley, soft rays of the moon, hum your song very softly.
If the silky rope (that pushes the swing) gets tangled in the feet or causes the small silver beads of the anklets to make a sound, my little one may wake up and you will have to
pacify her. Come on the wings of sleep and gently rock her swing.
