Mila Gilbert was born to an American serviceman father and a Filipino mother. "I think my Filipino heritage accounts for my affinity with island music and the pace of life island cultures usually have. really laid back." Mila has been playing guitar since he was ten years old and has an interesting and varied musical background including training at Berkeley college in Boston, finger style training in Georgia and California and eight years in India studying classical Indian music and instruments. "Music is a very powerful medium of expression and communication. More than the notes, it is a tangible expression of the artists frame of mind and clarity of spirit." Mila's philosophy and clarify certainly come through in his beautiful compositions and his eloquent finger style technique.
