On her tenth release, Angels in Disguise, Celtic harpist Kim Robertson adds a new dimension to her music: The evocative sounds of her voice, previously heard only in concert.
Along with her own arrangements of Irish, Scottish, and Japanese instrumentals, Kim has included five elegant original songs and two scottish folk songs that capture the haunting quality of her vocals. The album opens with Doucement, one of two selections with French lyrics inspired by her years of study in France. These pieces, along with Hello My Friend, speak eloquently of timeless love, while selections like Contemplate and Angels in Disguise reflect on the power of imagination to transcend limitation.
The dreamy production quality of the album adds to the magic and clarity of Kim's expressive vocals. Her crystalline harp melodies are further enhanced by warm, ethereal instrumental arrangements featuring violin, hammered dulcimer, guitar and percussion. After listening to this celestial yet sensuous music, you may wonder if Kim herself is an angel in disguise.

This sweet, soothing, heartfelt music is perfect for meditation and healing. Robertson combines her harpistry and whispery voice with gentle, ambient accompaniments by Scottish fiddler Alistair Fraser, Ron Neiman on hammered dulcimer, guitarist Liv Singh Khalsa, and percussionist Kit Bailey. This is my favorite music for self-healing, whether of the physical or psychological sort (if, indeed, there is really any difference). In a somewhat similar vein, Robertson collaborated with singer Singh Kaur on several albums of healing music in Kaur's "Crimson Collection" series. Try also "Gratitude", featuring duets by Robertson and cellist Virginia Kron.

I was first introduced to Kim Robertsons music when I bought a cassette of The Water Spirit at a thrift store for a buck. Wow! I'd never heard anything so beautiful! I wanted to get a CD so that I could choose random and repeat and queitly veg and meditate or sleep.
At first when I received the CD I was disappointed to see the note on the back that there were vocals. The Water Spirit is solely instrumental. But I popped it in the CD player and Kim has a beautiful, haunting voice that blends well with the instruments. I love this CD and I play it every night before bed and during sleep. You're sure to get a good nights sleep and if you ever get a headache, play it while lying down with your eyes closed. You'll never need asprin again!

Her voice is angelic and the songs are so uplifting. One of my most favorite CD's & I play it often. I liked this CD with haunting voice than her instrumental Treasures of the Celtic Harp.
